Portlandia's Jonathan Krisel was just announced as the new director for Detective Pikachu 2, and he will be working off a screenplay from Chris Galletta. Given that it's already been 4 years since Detective Pikachu first hit theaters, it's only natural that audiences will want to see some continuity in the franchise. The twist at the end also serves to completely redefine that relationship, which the sequel could take the opportunity to explore more in-depth. As enjoyable as it was for longtime fans of the games to see their favorite Pokémon brought to life, it risked becoming another soulless adaptation if not for the growing friendship between Detective Pikachu and Smith's Tim Goodman.

(There is more to say here and it will be said in the next section.) Curvature in the space-space sheets produces no easily observed effect in the vicinity of the earth. The only parts of the spacetime curvature that make any sensible difference are those in the space-time sheets. We can be a little more specific for the very weak gravitational effects in the vicinity of the earth. Spacetime is curved and the spacetime trajectories of free bodies follow the straightest lines of this curved spacetime geometry. Why does it do this? Why doesn't a stone like this just hover in space above the earth? Or, if it has some initial upward velocity, why does it not just fly off into space? The answer given by general relativity was already described in the last chapter. It will rise and, if not hurled too quickly, will slow to a halt and then fall back down again. ![]() ![]() Consider, for example, a stone hurled vertically. Why, according to the theory, do things fall down? We can take the simple and familiar case of bodies above the surface of a big mass like the earth. Let us return to the most basic question of gravity in general relativity. These were the firstĪpplications of Einstein's new theory. The first place to start is the most familiar, the gravitational effects arising near a massive object like our earth or sun. We now need to understand what those elements entail for gravity. ![]() In the last chapter, we learned the barest elements of Einstein's general theory of relativity. That engine was indeed impossible, but because spacetime is very slightly curved, a device could actually move forward without any external forces or emitting a propellant-a novel discovery.Linked document: Geodesics of Space Near the Sun "Its creator claimed that it could move forward without any propellant. "This research also relates to the 'Impossible Engine' study," said Rocklin. Ultimately, the principles of how a space's curvature can be harnessed for locomotion may allow spacecraft to navigate the highly curved space around a black hole. While the effects are small, as robotics becomes increasingly precise, understanding this curvature-induced effect may be of practical importance, just as the slight frequency shift induced by gravity became crucial to allow GPS systems to accurately convey their positions to orbital satellites. ![]() Rocklin hopes the experimental techniques developed will allow other researchers to explore these curved spaces. The research provides an important demonstration of how curved spaces can be attained and how it fundamentally challenges physical laws and intuition designed for flat space. These forces hybridized with the curvature effects to produce a strange dynamic with properties neither could induce on their own. The shaft was supported by air bearings and bushings to minimize the friction, and the alignment of the shaft was adjusted with the Earth's gravity to minimize the residual force of gravity.įrom there, as the robot continued to move, gravity and friction exerted slight forces on it. They then connected this system holistically to a rotating shaft so that the motors always move on a sphere. To confine the object on the sphere with minimal interaction or exchange of momentum with the environment in the curved space, they let a set of motors drive on curved tracks as moving masses. The researchers set out to study how an object moved within a curved space. In this video, the researchers show demonstrations of the robot implementing the null gait and the swimming gait, as well as examples of the positive and negative swimming in the ‘spherical swimmer’ and a comparison to the "cylindrical swimmer." Coding is as follows (comes after the Misc_events section): I've tried putting them in a Terrain_events section, but I don't know if that did anything or not, as the ballistae and traps do not appear. However, I am having some issues here understanding some things:ġ) In Arch's tutorial, it has Terrain_events, which while I don't know how often these would get used, would be nice to know how they work. Though makes me sad that there's no solid way to do manaketes in FE7.unless there IS a workaround for it?). This is all for FE7 (as FE6 seems too unreliable with its mechanics, and FE8 I hear is terrible to hack. I have been using Arch's tutorial for the most part on this. I'm assuming it's the same as usual), and various other events. Dunno how to do cutscenes or whatnot yet. Hello all! I am currently in the midst of learning how to code (in the 2-3 days I started learning this, I already know how to do: Units, AI, Location_events, Turn_events, Character_events, most misc_events, opening events (a little cutscene stuff here and there), ending_event (only know how to move to next chapter atm. So there's my Fire Emblem life story for those interested! Any other questions, feel free to leave them here! ^^ Read the LP on Something Awful's archives for FE1, was disappointed when there wasn't that much dialogue for characters and whatnot, then read up FE8 through Eirika's route and was midly interested (also, Myrrh <3 ), and decided finally, what the heck? I'll actually try playing FE8 and Let's Play it! And well.here I am! Oh, and getting involved in hacking kinda helped a bit too I suppose? ^^ Turns out that I really liked them (obviously), so I decided what the heck, I'll go look up the other games. Found out that I started to like the characters from Awakening quite a bit, in particular Tiki, Nowi, and Nah the most (but Gerome, Chrom, Frederick, and Cynthia are all pretty nice too), and looked videos and stuff up on those 3 more to see how they were like. About 5 years from knowing about her, I heard about Awakening and got interested in it when I heard Tiki was in it (because she was really the only character I knew about), and actually did some research and stuff on the game. Then Brawl came around and I was introduced to Ike (whom seemed like a pretty cool guy), and then later on in MUGEN, I was first introduced to Tiki. Melee (back then I didn't care much for Marth, but I really liked Roy for some reason). So, what got me into Fire Emblem? Funny story actually! You see, years ago I like many others, probably didn't even know that the series existed until Super Smash Bros. Oh, and I have a MUGEN project that I myself haven't done anything on for 3-4 years, but it's still going! ^^ ^^ Īnywho, name's Xenomic! Some may know me from other places (MUGEN forums such as Mugen Fighter's Guild, Mugen-Infantry, MugenFreeForAll, etc.), YouTube, GameFAQs (though I haven't visited in years), DeviantArt, and probably some other places! There's.honestly not a whole lot for me to say about myself truth be told! I'm just a guy that still has yet to find a job (had one 6 years ago, but haven't been able to get one since then due to combination of bad luck and laziness.>_> ), just making a RPG Maker 2k3 game and learning how to hack FE7 (the ONE game that's not too hard to learn to hack but doesn't have proper manaketes _ ), as well as doing Let's Plays on various games! Other than that? I.don't do a whole lot else other than maybe do traditional art on paper and pencil. ![]() G'day to you all! I have been around for the past month or so, but haven't really introduced myself at all, have I? Kinda jumped the gun asking about manaketes and all that, ehehehe. I was wondering about the data though because would the data need to be just copy/pasted and then left alone/slightly edited? Or would it need completely edited? Because of FE7 having leftover data for manaketes in FE6.I'd imagine that copy/pasting the remaining data would be enough. Well, I've heard that someone managed it but they have no animations or sounds. Thanks! That takes care of the healing problem now! Now all I need to do is figure out how terrain events work (and figure out how to script arenas as I didn't see Arch's tutorial cover that at all. It's funny because in one of the videos that Arch did, it said to use -HPRestoredValue. Actually, thinking on this, that may be because she doesn't wield a staff to begin with, right? : S). Odd.if I don't set 0x4C, it'll initiate the fight with Ninian and Lyn, but it doesn't heal her in the fight.but with 0x4C, it'll heal her for 20 HP on the map. ![]() Huh.that worked (though it heals the target on the map and not in battle. ![]() This includes MacBook Pro (13, 14, 15 and 16 inch), iMac (21.5, 24 and 27 inch), iMac Pro, Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Air, Mac mini and Mac Studio. The trip to Spain was not particularly easy. As Caesar’s military conquests began to rival those of Pompey, Octavian journeyed to Spain to be with his uncle on campaign in 45 BC. Octavian began his public career entering into the priesthood, which was largely a political position. His worst illness came in 23 BC, when he suffered a near-death experience which ultimately changed his life and the course of Rome itself. Throughout his life, Octavian suffered terrible episodes of illness including an abscessed liver, influenza and seasonal complaints due to changes in weather. He is said to have had a weakness in his left hip and right forefinger. Physically, Octavian was not particularly strong and he suffered from a variety of complaints throughout his life. As Octavian grew older, his teeth became quite decayed. He stood only five feet, seven inches tall, or perhaps less, and was quite well proportioned. Suetonius tells us that Octavian matured into a remarkably handsome young man with yellow hair who possessed an elegant graceful gait, but often kept his appearance somewhat less than immaculate noting that his hair could be quite messy at times. At the age of only 12, Octavian delivered the funeral oration (the laudatio) for his grandmother Julia, Caesar’s sister, in 53 BC. Curiously enough, Octavian never quite mastered the Greek language despite enjoying Greek poetry and philosophy. Areus, a philosopher, and his sons Dionysius and Nicanor also provided elements of Octavian’ education. ![]() Octavian was educated in rhetoric and studied with Apollodorus of Pergarnum, from whom he learned Greek. While his mother, Atia, raised him with a formal Roman education including philosophy, Caesar influenced him the most during these critical early years. Octavian came under Caesar’s direct influence when he was about 4 years old following his father’s death in 59 BC. Octavian preferred to distance himself from that reputation and instead looked to his family’s alliance with the Julians. The family of Octavian had been associated with the bloody affair of proscriptions of Africa. Gaius Octavius Thurinus was born on September 23rd, 63 BC, to Gaius Octavius and Atia, a niece of Julius Caesar by his sister Juia. Through Cleopatra’s love affair with Mark Antony, who had become a triumvir in the aftermath of Julius Caesar’s death, Caesarion was given the title “King of Kings” while she was called “Queen of Kings.” After the death of his mother, Caesario was unable to rule for more than a month due to Octavian ordering his death in late August 30 BC.Octavian born 63 BC – died 14 AD great-nephew of Julius Caesar Cleopatra also aimed for her child to succeed his father. The mother and son reigned together on September 2, 44 BC, until she died on August 12, 30 BC. The Egyptian queen plotted to elevate Caesarion’s position in both Egypt and Rome as she had her younger brother, Ptolemy XIV Theos Philopator II assassinated, leaving space for Caesarion to rule. They stayed in Rome a year after his birth and then returned to Egypt after the death of his father. He was born in ancient Egypt, where he lived with his mother, Cleopatra. He was the last ruler of the Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt. Ptolemy Philopator Philometor Caesar was the only known biological son of Caesar. Pompey and Julius Caesar’s relationship did not hold a strong connection afterward, resulting in a civil war in 49 BC. This miscarriage left her in poor health, and she died while in labor months later in 54 BC. He was not dead but came into contact with bloody rioters at the election of aediles. Plutarch described how she suffered a miscarriage in 55 BC after seeing a servant carrying her husband’s bloody robe. Charmed by her beauty and goodness, their marriage was reportedly happy despite their 30-year age difference. The union was sudden and unexpected, but Pompey was greatly in love with his wife. In an attempt to form a stronger alliance with Pompey through the First Triumvirate, Caesar ended the engagement with Servilius and married off Julia to Pompey in 59 BC. At Caesar’s command, she became engaged to Servilius Caepio. After her mother’s death in 69 BC, she was raised by her paternal grandmother, Aurelia Cotta. The book The Women of Caesar’s Family states that in her early years, she lived with her father first in the Subura and then in the Domus Publica, the official residence of the pontifex Maximus. She was the only legitimate biological child of Julius Caesar. Julia was born to Cornelia and Julius Caesar sometime in 76BC. ![]() In theory, at least, the big bang could have happened. Justifying Sciama's faith in him, he produces a PhD of real brilliance and profound implications. He applies Penrose's theorems for collapsing stars to the universe itself. At last, Stephen enters a period of feverish academic work. With remarkable insight – a real Eureka moment – he asks himself: what would happen if you ran Penrose's maths backwards? Instead of something collapsing into nothingness, what if nothingness exploded into something? And what if you applied this not to a star but to the whole universe? Answer: the universe really could have originated in a big bang. With his mind fired up, Stephen begins to work away at the implications of Penrose's discovery and starts to home in on the idea of a singularity. He also commits to his relationship with her, asking her to marry him and in doing so exhibiting a defiant determination to survive. But he now has a focus for his energies and, with the support of Jane, enters a new phase. Meanwhile, Stephen's condition continues to decline, he writes and walks with difficulty and his speech is starting to slur. Sciama is sceptical but supportive – glad to see his student fired up and ready to work. He has always had a niggling scepticism about Steady State Theory, and now he can begin to see a way of explaining the revolutionary and highly controversial idea that the universe might have had a beginning. It is this which leads Stephen to his PhD subject. And at the heart of this black hole, Penrose shows, is something scientists call a singularity. The collapse of the dying star appears to continue indefinitely, until the star is infinitely dense, forming a black hole in space. His calculations suggest something extraordinary. When a star comes to the end of its life, it begins to collapse in on itself. Penrose's great passion is the fate of dying stars. Topology is an approach that uses concepts of shape rather than equations to think about the nature of the universe, and this proves to be the perfect tool for Stephen, who is starting to find it very difficult to write. At almost the same time Stephen is introduced to a new way of thinking about his subject by another physicist, Roger Penrose. The row causes a stir in the department but, more importantly, it seems to give Stephen the confidence to get started on his own work. He works through the calculations, identifies a mistake, and publicly confronts Hoyle after he has finished speaking. Stephen gets an early glimpse of a paper by Hoyle that is to be presented at a Royal Society lecture. The prevailing theory in cosmology at the time is Steady State, which argues that the universe had no beginning – it has always existed, and always will – and Steady State is dominated by Professor Fred Hoyle, a plain-speaking Yorkshireman, and one of the first science TV pundits. It is only Stephen's occasional meetings with Jane and her faith in him that seem to keep him afloat. He rejects the help of his supervisor Dennis Sciama and sinks into a depression. While his colleagues throw themselves into academic and college life, Stephen's life seems to have been put on hold. But he cannot hide from the reality of his condition through work because he can't find a subject for his PhD. Stephen returns to Cambridge where the new term has started without him. Stephen has motor neurone disease and doctors don't expect him to survive for more than two years. A stay in hospital results in a distressing diagnosis. ![]() There is a strong attraction between the two and Jane is intrigued by Stephen's talk of stars and the universe, but realises that there is something very wrong with Stephen when he suddenly finds that he is unable to stand up.
